Believe unto Righteousness

Gen 15:2 And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
Gen 15:3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
Gen 15:4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
Gen 15:5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
Gen 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

Salvation came to Abraham, he was declared righteous by believing the promise of God.

Paul referred to this in Galatians:

Gal 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Gal 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
Gal 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Our faith is not in Abraham, but in the Lord Jesus Christ the promised savior, who God sent to be for the remission of our sins. Jesus spoke of the New Covenant by way of his shed blood as he held up the communion cup.

Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Peter was changed and spoke with the boldness by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost concerning faith in Jesus the Christ.

Act 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The promise of righteousness is by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Baptism follows as an act of faith and obedience.

Trust and obey in Jesus, for there is no other way.

Act 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
