A marked man

Gen 4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

Cain was a marked man, marked by God because he had killed his brother and was under God's judgement. He was given a visible mark to warn others that he was not to be a target for their hostility; if they harmed him they would receive a seven fold judgement upon themselves.

We are not to mark anyone as targets for our hostility because they have hurt us in some way. We are to forgive them and give them over to God.

Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Rom 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Rom 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

We have been forgiven so we are to be forgivers. This takes the grace of God, but what a beautiful calling we have. Instead of anger and vengeance, as children of God we give food and drink. I see this also as an opportunity to feed them the gospel of Jesus, his forgiveness offered freely. Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. The best way to overcome evil is to be received and forgiven by Jesus and to be given new direction and purpose for your life.

I am a marked man. The mark I have is the seal of the Holy Spirit. By this mark I am identified with God.

Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth.

So many do not care if someone is a liar, so long as they can get stuff. They elect liars and thieves and no doubt will be taking the coming mark of the beast, in order to buy or to sell.

Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

I will not take the mark of the beast.
