Hold that Thought

Pro 13:3  Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

Our president is a good man, but being a man who speaks his mind, it often causes problems. A prophet who speaks the word of God may be offensive to some, but the word is pure and the truth. Some will not hear the man because they have formed a negative opinion of him. We must all learn to hold our tongues and to speak as from the Lord with wisdom and grace.

Moses was fearful to speak what the LORD told him to speak to Pharaoh. He made excuses.

Exo 4:10  But Moses said to the LORD, "Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue."
Exo 4:11  Then the LORD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?
Exo 4:12  Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak."

If the LORD calls you for a purpose he will supply what is required. It is the word of God that we speak. We get into trouble when we speak from our own thoughts, or lack of thinking. James had a lot to say about our tongue.

Jas 1:26  If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
Jas 1:27  Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Jas 3:6  And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.

Those fiery darts from the devil may just come from our talking too much without thinking.

Jas 3:8  but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
Jas 3:9  With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God.
Jas 3:10  From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

What spirit are we of?

2Co 10:3  For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.
2Co 10:4  For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
2Co 10:5  We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

A Christian has the mind of Christ, so let his mind speak, not our own careless words. Speak words that build up the hearer, even words of correction, if given in mercy and love.

Signs of Change

Mar 13:28  Now from the fig tree learn her parable: when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh;
Mar 13:29  even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that he is nigh, even at the doors.
Mar 13:30  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, until all these things be accomplished.
Mar 13:31  Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

The birds deposited a fig seed near our kitchen window. In the years following, It has grown branches in all directions. My wife is enjoying the light green figs. We call them white figs, but their name is Adriatic figs. Harvest time is August before Fall comes. Our latest fruit is from the persimmon tree that ripens in November. Jesus pointed to natural things that occur at a known season. He also referred back to the signs of the end times, " even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that he is nigh, even at the doors. " The generation that sees signs in the heavens, false prophets and teachers, the new world order, a false religious alliance, the antichrist; this generation shall see all the things of the last days come to pass before the Lord returns. I do not plan to stick around and to go through the tribulation. Hopefully the church will have been taken up to be with Jesus before this time. The important thing is to be ready to meet Jesus, for he could come at any time for his church. Make Jesus your master and savior from the wrath of God on a sinful and prideful people. The word of God is true and will never pass away.

Rom 10:8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Eclipse of the Sun, a Sign

Joe 2:28  And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
Joe 2:29  and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit.
Joe 2:30  And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
Joe 2:31  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah cometh.
Joe 2:32  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Jehovah hath said, and among the remnant those whom Jehovah doth call.

At Pentecost, Peter quoted this scripture passage at the outpouring of the Holy Spirit with the speaking in tongues.

Act 2:15  For these are not drunken, as ye suppose; seeing it is but the third hour of the day;
Act 2:16  but this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel:
Act 2:17  And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour forth of My Spirit upon all flesh: And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams:
Act 2:18  Yea and on My servants and on My handmaidens in those days Will I pour forth of My Spirit; and they shall prophesy.
Act 2:19  And I will show wonders in the heaven above, And signs on the earth beneath; Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke:
Act 2:20  The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of the Lord come, That great and notable day.
Act 2:21  And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If it was the last days 2000 years ago, with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It is closer to the day of the LORD now. This eclipse of the sun could be a prophetic sign. There is so much interest in this eclipse, thousands of cars journey to the best viewing areas. How many are in the light of God? How many have come to Jesus, the way to eternal life with God? There will be another eclipse in seven years. Will it be a time of the antichrist and the New World Order? Will people come to Jesus before the great Day of the LORD and tribulation? Jesus spoke this prophesy.

Mar 13:24  But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
Mar 13:25  and the stars shall be falling from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens shall be shaken.
Mar 13:26  And then shall they see the Son of man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
Mar 13:27  And then shall he send forth the angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

Righteousness is of God

Pro 14:34  Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

Speaking to the 2015 Women in the World Summit,  Hillary Clinton declared that “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”

Recently Mz Clinton declared that she would like to become a Methodist preacher.  I would hope that she will study the Bible, for by it we are changed.

2Ti 2:15  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

To become a preacher while seeking to change God's word is a dangerous desire. Preachers seeking personal power or wealth only to seek their own gain are not of God. These were as the religious leaders at the time of Christ. They envied his power and righteousness and used false witnesses to have him killed. Their plans were evil, but it was part of the purpose that Jesus was sent to fulfill, that his blood be shed for our sins. Is this the kind of Pastor that we need? One that sheds other peoples blood for their own power? We need pastors who have a calling from God, a righteous calling. America needs righteousness. I believe that the LORD allowed Trump to be our president to slow the decline of America's morality. To make America great again we must seek God in prayer. His righteousness exalts a nation. He has taken our sins to the cross. He offers us his blessings and eternal life. We do not want to rely on "swamp" creatures, the creature from the black lagoon? We cannot find righteousness from those who dwell in darkness. Hold the torch, lady liberty. Our liberty is in the light of God's truth. Our greatness is by making him great again.

Spirit and the Word of Truth

Is it possible to have received the Spirit and then to lose your salvation?

Heb 6:4  For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5  And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6  If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

I fell away once, but was able to return. I had the Spirit given to me but did not continue in the word. I had not partaken of the good word of God. I returned and learned the word and am living for Christ by his grace. The body trinity, is body soul and spirit. The Spirit is the first step of salvation and then the mind must receive the word, with soul and body actions being changed. A lot of old churches do outward religious things but have not the spirit of God. I think that a lot of them do not have born again pastors. They speak of world peace and love, but they leave out sin and Jesus being our savior. One church in my area advertises as being a supernatural church. This draws in a lot of young people who are curious. The supernatural is the Holy Spirit and it is a new life in Christ that is active in all aspects of life. Some things of this  "supernatural church" I do not care for. People in public places will be approached by well meaning young people and be given prophecies. I question any prophecy from a stranger, especially to the unsaved. Young people search for a "cause" to believe in. Young women run away to join Isis. Some march in feminist parades or gay pride foolishness. They need Jesus and a new heart and Spirit. Fake church and devilish causes are no substitute for the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The church needs born again Spirit filled pastors and teachers. They lead by example and the LORD will increase His church.

Mercy and Truth

Many think that they are good people and when they die they will go to heaven. Often they reject the concept of hell, but if there is a hell they should seek truth to stay out of that place. We do not get to heaven by our efforts, we need the mercy and grace of God. We can know the truth and as Jesus said, the truth will make you free. (John 8:31-32)

Psa 85:8  I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

The people here are the people of God's covenant to Israel. What of the people in general?" The people do not want to hear from God; they deny he exists, only using his name in oaths and vain talking. What about the people of the Church? Do we want to hear what God the LORD will speak, or has spoken? A voice from heaven spoke to Peter, James and John on the mount of Transfiguration. Jesus was transfigured before them and with him were Moses and Elijah, the law and the prophet.

Mar 9:7  And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

Hear Jesus, the Living Word of God.

Psa 85:9  Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.

To fear God is the beginning of wisdom. Respect God, obey him, listen to him. Our Salvation comes through faith in Jesus, his Son. The will of the Father is to receive him.

Joh 6:39  And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

Joh 6:40  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Psa 85:10  Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
Psa 85:11  Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

Mercy is not receiving what we deserve. Mercy comes from above and truth has been given to us on earth by the law and prophets; by Jesus and the apostles and by the wonder and glory of his creation. People often reject the truth because they will not acknowledge God as the creator.

Rom 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Psa 86:5  For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

Mercy and truth are met together. God is truth. His word is true and his creation glorifies him. Mercy and grace come from truth and accepting it. The truth of God is that salvation is in his son. We come to him in truth, for he is real. Jesus spoke to a sinful woman the truth of God.

Joh 4:23  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Joh 4:24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The sinful woman received Jesus and his forgiveness of sin and became a witness bringing others to him. We are grateful for the truth of God and we express our delight in Him through worship and praise. Our worship music should speak truth from the heart that does honor God. You must have His Spirit with you to worship in spirit and in truth. We should block out the negative and worship God from our heart. I love the old hymns but we also can make up songs from the heart, groanings even that the Spirit receives which are accepted as worship. (Sometimes new music makes the older folks groan, longing for the hymns that they love.)

Exo 20:6  And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Exo 20:7  Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

We are not to turn again to folly, forgetting or refusing to worship God, we are to honor him and to walk in his truth. There is a woman in a chat room that has the name Allahpraise, or something like that. She chose to change her religion to Allah. We do not change truth. We do not pick a religion. Some believe in reincarnation, others follow a religious person or cause. We are not to study under a false teacher using the Bible to prove what they think is truth. Yes, even the Bible can be used to say something that is not truth if not taken in context and in whole. We are not to be converted by force, taught to kill those who do not believe as we do. Truth is truth and it is revealed to us by God. God is true and his Son died and is risen again to give us eternal life and the forgiveness of sins. Thank you LORD for mercy and truth; righteousness and the peace of God. By this we have the assurance of everlasting life and we shall dwell with the Lord forever.
