Do You Believe the True Witness?

Luk 23:55  And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
Luk 23:56  And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

They kept the Sabbath and returned Sunday morning.

Luk 24:1  Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
Luk 24:2  And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
Luk 24:3  And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
Luk 24:4  And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

Two men in glorified bodies. They were angels or were they risen saints? Were these the two witnesses in Revelation? Or were there two angel messengers, two witnesses according to the law of Moses to confirm the resurrection?

Luk 24:5  And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
Luk 24:6  He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
Luk 24:7  Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
Luk 24:8  And they remembered his words,

The women who followed Jesus remembered his words about his death and resurrection. They would witness to the Apostles that Jesus is risen from the grave!.

Luk 24:9  And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
Luk 24:10  It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
Luk 24:11  And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

Oh ye of little faith, Jesus would say.

Luk 24:12  Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

Peter was with John and they saw the empty tomb.

Joh 20:26  And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Joh 20:27  Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
Joh 20:28  And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Joh 20:29  Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Do we believe the true witness? Jesus Christ is risen from the grave!

Spread the Word

2Th 3:1  Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:

Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you; (NAS)

Often the word is hindered when it is shared. In the rest home service someone will start talking loudly or make a loud sound. At other times, the word is interrupted by someone with another message on their minds, usually something negative. The word goes out but not all hear it. Prayer is needed so that the word has a free course to be heard and understood. Pray for a hunger to hear the word of God and that the word be sent with the power of the Holy Ghost and be received with conviction with the fear of the LORD.

Isa 55:11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

As fishers of men our power is in the word of God. It is sent forth as a net to bring in a harvest. It will not return empty (void). It may be sent out as a sword to pierce the conscience and to bring someone to repentance. Oh LORD God may your word go forth to accomplish your will and purpose.

2Pe 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

1Jn 2:16  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Pray and then send the word out to be heard. May the Lord get their attention.

A Free Man

I mentioned last night in our Bible study that I was a bondslave to Christ, meaning I willingly choose to serve him. That is not quite true. In the topic of Israel being delivered from Egypt, the people of God had to be made free in their hearts. I asked are we slaves to a nation or are we free men serving Christ by faith? Then I said that I was a bondslave to Jesus, meaning I choose to serve him willingly. In truth I am not a bondslave or a bondservant, but an adopted son of God. A bondservant does not have an inheritance with the son. A son receives the inheritance with Jesus, receiving eternal life. There's a difference between a bondservant and a son. We who are made free by the Blood of the Lamb of God are heirs of eternal life with Christ Jesus our Lord.

Gal 4:1  But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he differeth nothing from a bondservant though he is lord of all;
Gal 4:2  but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed of the father.
Gal 4:3  So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the rudiments of the world:
Gal 4:4  but when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
Gal 4:5  that he might redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Gal 4:6  And because ye are sons, God sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Gal 4:7  So that thou art no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.
Gal 4:8  Howbeit at that time, not knowing God, ye were in bondage to them that by nature are no gods:
Gal 4:9  but now that ye have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how turn ye back again to the weak and beggarly rudiments, whereunto ye desire to be in bondage over again?
Gal 4:10  Ye observe days, and months, and seasons, and years.
Gal 4:11  I am afraid of you, lest by any means I have bestowed labor upon you in vain.

Joh 8:35  And the bondservant abideth not in the house for ever: the son abideth for ever.
Joh 8:36  If therefore the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

I choose to be a servant of Christ, because he came to serve, but in reality I am not a bondservant but a free man. Jesus made me free and an adopted son of the Most High God. Let those whom he has set free serve God by serving others, but we will not be made slaves, for we are the adopted sons, the family of God, the heirs with Christ and the Bride of Christ. Let us live as free men and women serving God as Jesus came to serve and to seek and to save the lost.

America

1
My country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims' pride,
From ev'ry mountainside
Let freedom ring!
2
My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills,
Like that above.
3
Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.
4
Our fathers' God to Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright,
With freedom's holy light,
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God our King.

God's Building

1Co 3:9  For we are God's fellow-workers: ye are God's husbandry, God's building.
1Co 3:10  According to the grace of God which was given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder I laid a foundation; and another buildeth thereon. But let each man take heed how he buildeth thereon.
1Co 3:11  For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1Co 3:12  But if any man buildeth on the foundation gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1Co 3:13  each man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself shall prove each man's work of what sort it is.
1Co 3:14  If any man's work shall abide which he built thereon, he shall receive a reward.
1Co 3:15  If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as through fire.
1Co 3:16  Know ye not that ye are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1Co 3:17  If any man destroyeth the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, and such are ye.

1Pe 2:5  ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.

We are the dwelling place of God. We are his temple and together we are as living stones building a spiritual house; we are the Church of Almighty God through Jesus Christ our Lord. We are to offer sacrifices, we are living sacrifices. If our life is no good then our offerings are no good. The LORD desires holy sacrifices and holy actions and words; holy fruit.  No liar will be in heaven, for we are to live in truth, having the Spirit of Truth in our dwellings; in us. Our God is a consuming fire, a purifying fire burning away all that is not lasting and true. The word of God is true and our love of God and others out of a pure heart is our acceptable addition to his foundation.

Confirming the souls

Act 14:19  But there came Jews thither from Antioch and Iconium: and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.
Act 14:20  But as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and entered into the city: and on the morrow he went forth with Barnabas to Derbe.
Act 14:21  And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,
Act 14:22  confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

Paul was nearly stoned to death and yet he got up the next day and continued to witness for Jesus. He had many converts, confirming their souls. What is meant by confirming their souls? He established them, strengthened them. It is important to confirm new believers, to establish them in the faith, to prove to them, to make disciples of them. This step of confirmation should occur immediately after they receive Jesus by faith. Many are left alone as a newborn babe, not knowing what to do. Babes need nurturing, they need to be supported by the strong people of faith. These that Paul confirmed were exhorted to continue in the faith. Paul was an example to them. He did not promise them comfort, prosperity and ease, but he showed them that in spite of hardships and persecution, that God with you will give you the strength and power to continue. We need this example that Paul gives to us. Keep going, Christ in you has overcome the world and through many tribulations we will enter into the kingdom of God; we will be with Jesus and experience his love and fellowship, forever.

Mar 16:20  And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen.

Mocked

Mat 2:7  Then Herod privily called the Wise-men, and learned of them exactly what time the star appeared.
Mat 2:8  And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search out exactly concerning the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word, that I also may come and worship him.
Mat 2:9  And they, having heard the king, went their way; and lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
Mat 2:10  And when they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
Mat 2:11  And they came into the house and saw the young child with Mary his mother; and they fell down and worshipped him; and opening their treasures they offered unto him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
Mat 2:12  And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
Mat 2:13  Now when they were departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I tell thee: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
Mat 2:14  And he arose and took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt;
Mat 2:15  and was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt did I call my son.
Mat 2:16  Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the Wise-men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had exactly learned of the Wise-men.
Mat 2:17  Then was fulfilled that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
Mat 2:18  A voice was heard in Ramah, Weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; And she would not be comforted, because they are not.

Herod said that he was mocked by the Wise-men. What is this word mock? The concordance says it is to play with, to delude, to deceive. Herod himself was lying, deceiving and mocking the Wise-men when he said he wanted to worship the newborn king. His intent was to kill him and he tried to kill him by murdering all the babies under 2 years of age in Bethlehem. The Wise-men and Joseph were warned by God in a dream to flee, and they fled. I believe that the Holy Spirit will warn the children of God of someone who is lying or has evil plans. We have the spirit of truth, but the world must hear from God by conscience or by dreams. Often they believe what they hear or see on the controlled media. Being politically correct often means it is incorrect according to God's will. We must be careful to not be swept away by public opinions, not to follow unsaved friends, or popular celebrities. We are to examine all things by the light of God's word. Liars are everywhere. A liar has no fear of God, they mock God with their lies, having no concern for his authority.

Rev 21:6  And he said unto me, They are come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Rev 21:7  He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Rev 21:8  But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

You cannot mock God and get by with it.

Hearken Unto Me

Isa 46:12  Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that are far from righteousness:
Isa 46:13  I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.

The young in every generation think that they know better than their elders. They get into sin and because their friends are doing the same, they see it as something acceptable. Some of these are Christians that go along with their friends. This is one way that their witness is weakened. A popular leader can get to the hearts of a generation that has strayed from God's word. They may claim to be Christians, but their actions are more like the majority who follow the popular leader. When Hitler came to power in Germany, there were many professing Christians that supported him. There were some who opposed him and became martyrs, dying for their beliefs. When the Nazis began killing the Jews, the Jews saw that most of Germany called themselves "Christians" and because of the evil done to them by these Christians, they wanted no part of Jesus, their Messiah. One way to destroy a "Christian" nation is to ignore the laws of God and to make evil sinful things protected and promoted by the government. Government control of healthcare and welfare leads to the slave mentality or the "entitlement" generation. America was founded on God's word and on freedom. It was by hard work and personal sacrifice that our fathers brought us to the easy life we now enjoy. Our nation is being weakened from within and but for the prayers of it's people, it will not stand. There will be no more American dream brought about by faith in God and hard work to accomplish great things. There are still a remnant of Christians who trust the LORD, who read their Bible and pray. I ask the Lord to strengthen what remains. May the power of God flow out to clean up the nation and it's sins. May Jew and Gentile come to the real Jesus and live in and for him, now and evermore. Shalom, peace be with you.
