A Hidden Memorial

I have a more interesting way to read through the Bible. My e-sword Bible has bookmarks on the right side. All I need to do is find a place to start reading and then right click a bookmark on the right sideof the page to save my place. I have made 7 bookmarks to read a chapter in 7 places from Joshua to Romans. This s a more balanced diet to eat the word. We need to hide the word in our heart so that it will be there when needed. I always see something I never saw before when reading the Bible. I had remembered that when Israel carried the ark and came to the river Jordan that the priests carrying the ark by staves were to by faith step out into the river Jordan. When they obeyed, the LORD parted the river. The ark was carried out to the middle of the river bed and all the people crossed the Jordan. How many people were they? According to the census there were over 600, 000 adult males over the age of 20. Adding in the women and children it could have been one to two million or more. It would have to be a wide shoring up of the Jordan to allow that many to cross over.

Joshua commanded the princes of the 12 tribes to each gather a stone as a memorial. Joshua then placed 12 stones in the Jordan as a memorial.

Jos 4:2  Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
Jos 4:3  And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.
Jos 4:4  Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:
Jos 4:5  And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:
Jos 4:6  That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
Jos 4:7  Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
Jos 4:8  And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the LORD spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
Jos 4:9  And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.

The twelve stones would be hidden in the midst of the Jordan river. I suppose only when the river was at a very low depth could they be seen. I was thinking of this hidden memorial. It is as the word hidden in our heart. When problems come, sufferings, afflictions or some want, then the memorial is seen at these low times to remember the promises of God and his miracles. I suppose the low water times serve as a memorial to us because we have the word in our heart. When Shasta Dam in California gets low of water, then hidden things are shown. Old bridges are surfaced and other structures that remind us of the past. The low times can be for our memories. Jesus by faith resides with us by the Holy Spirit. We are to remember this at all times. We are never alone and he will take us through the Jordan to the promise land, by foot or by being carried.

A good story, but there is more. Reading on I see that the stones that the 12  princes of the 12 tribes gathered were moved to Gilgal as a memorial. There were 12 stones placed in the Jordan by Joshua and 12 stones brought to Gilgal as a memorial.

Jos 4:20  And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.
Jos 4:21  And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?

Jos 4:22  Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.

Proclaim the word of God where all may hear and see. Our memorials, the cross, the 10 Commandments, prayer in schools, these are being hidden by the enemies of God. We are to keep Jesus before the world to see. We may be persecuted and cast down by men, but received and rewarded by our Lord. Keep Going.

The Number Two

The number two in the Bible number reference is: union, division.

Deu 17:6  At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

Two witnesses were needed by the law to confirm something. For the Christian, we have the word of God and the Spirit of God to confirm truth. Unity is stronger than two opposing each other. A marriage in which two are in agreement is better than one with strife and jealousy.

Pro 18:22  Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

Pro 21:19  It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

I knew a man who would tell a joke about his marriage to a bitter wife. "First comes the ring and then the suffering."

2Co 6:14  Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2Co 6:15  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

In witnessing on AOL in the chats often the people of darkness will unite against one who speaks the truth of God. Do not fear them, a spirit filled Christian is greater than a multitude of devils. Speak the word by the Holy Spirit.

1Jn 4:4  Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

In the end times, two witnesses will stand before the powers of the antichrist.

Rev 11:3  And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Rev 11:4  These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
Rev 11:5  And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
Rev 11:6  These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
Rev 11:7  And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
Rev 11:8  And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
Rev 11:9  And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
Rev 11:10  And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
Rev 11:11  And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

Those two door to door witnesses we see, are following a Bible pattern, but be sure you are of the truth and not a cult if you go out witnessing.

Mar 6:7  And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

There is power in the Lord and two that are in agreement,  witness by the power of God with Jesus in their midst.

Mat 18:20  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

A final thought about our nation that is divided. The flag pledge says "indivisable, with justice for all". Only by being one nation under the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, will we be one nation under God, indivisable, with justice. In Christ we are not to be divided. We are a spiritual union of people, together in one accord. Avoid those who would divide us. Be in union with God for eternity.

Be courageous and not fearful

Jos 1:5  There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Jos 1:6  Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Jos 1:7  Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
Jos 1:8  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Jos 1:9  Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Jos 1:16  And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.
Jos 1:17  According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
Jos 1:18  Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.

Be strong and of good courage...I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor foresake thee. Be strong and very courageous, that you do according to the law. Meditate on the word of God so that you may prosper and have good success. Yes these verses are for us as well. Be courageous and not fearful; fear is a spirit. and it is very real and must be overcome by meditating on God's word while walking in the Holy Spirit of God.

2Ti 1:6  Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
2Ti 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Fear has torment, but God's spirit gives us love and a sound mind. We will need love, courage and a sound mind to continue to live in this delusional world. Be strong and of Good courage for Jesus has promised to be with us always.

Heb 13:5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Heb 13:6  So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

The Number One

I have a list of numbers with their Biblical meanings. I do not know who put this list together but the Bible does have numbers and everything in the Bible is worth looking into. This could be interesting and I invite the reader to expand on these numbers and their meanings.

The number one: indivisability, unity

Deu 6:4  Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

Deu 6:5  And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Joh 17:15  I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
Joh 17:16  They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Joh 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Joh 17:18  As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
Joh 17:19  And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
Joh 17:20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
Joh 17:21  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Joh 17:22  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
Joh 17:23  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Rom 12:3  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Rom 12:4  For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

Rom 12:5  So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

Technical problem - Spiritual Gain

I had been in the habit of signing on to AOL, checking mail and then going to a conservative news source to read the news. There is not much good news to read. Something has gone wrong with my computer to where I am unable to sign on to the Internet on the first try. It requires that I shut down and sign on a second time. This has caused me to go to the E-Sword Bible that is a free download on my computer. I have uploaded in the "tools" category, several devotionals. I especially have been enjoying the devotionals of Morrison, George H. Morrison from the 19th century. He recently had a devotion on the 10 virgins, illustrating that we must be watchful and ready for the Lord's return. The next devotional was about the parable of the talents. A talent was a great deal of money, but Jesus through this parable expanded the meaning of a talent to the giftings of God to be used. He supplies the gifts and he gives us the power to use them for his glory. We are to be waiting, watching, but also busy using our talents to increase the kingdom of God. His power is with us, so awaken your gifts and talents to be used for his glory. He is a loving God who will receive us to glory, so do not despair, do not turn aside. Jesus is our good shepherd and he gave his life for us so that we may be with him forever. Start your day with the good news and download the free
E-Sword Bible. A donation for the free Bible  would be accepted.

Powers

Luke 10:17  And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
Luke 10:18  And he said unto them,
I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Luk 10:19  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Luk 10:20  Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Jesus told his disciples that he saw satan fall from heaven. This means the power of satan who is the dragon who drew a third of the angels with him has come down to earth.

Rev 12:4  And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Rev 12:5  And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child

The child that was born of the woman is Jesus, the Son of God. The good news is that he has all authority in heaven and earth and he has given this authority to his disciples. We in the name of Jesus, have authority over the devil and his angels; the spirit world. This doesn't mean we will not be attacked and accused by the devil.  Many are going through physical and spiritual battles right now. Saints of God, use the authority that you have in Christ Jesus. This is no time to fall away. Be sure that you are saved by faith in the Lamb of God; faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs Book of Life! There is no other name by which we can be saved. (Acts 4:12) A final word. Jesus died for us and is risen in glory. We also will die in him and be risen by the power of God to be with him forever.

Mat 10:24  The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
Mat 10:25  It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
Mat 10:26  Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
Mat 10:27  What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
Mat 10:28  And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Stand in your faith by the power of the name of Jesus.
