A Rich Man

Mat 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Mat 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
Mat 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Mat 19:25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
Mat 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

People do silly things in order to be prosperous. TV preachers ask for "seed: money, so that you might get riches. These are not the true riches. The love of money can keep you from entering heaven. Does a rich person ever have enough? No, usually they want more and more. The politicians say we should tax the rich, but when you look at their life style, it is a flagrant wasting of the tax payers money on personal glory. They spend money faster than they can borrow it. Jesus was the only one qualified to judge the rich. All others are hypocrites.

We can't fake religion with the LORD, he knows our hearts.

1Co 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

The love of God will spill over to loving others. If you have wealth, you will be held accountable as a steward of the Lord.

1Ti 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
1Ti 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
1Ti 6:19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Wealth cannot buy a place in heaven. We must obey God and prepare for our future dwelling place with Jesus. You say you are poor so that you do not have to give money to anyone? Think of the poor widow in the temple.

Mar 12:41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
Mar 12:42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
Mar 12:43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
Mar 12:44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

We are to seek opportunities to bless others. Give of the true riches of God  through hearts of love. Meet needs and share the way to salvation. God will bless you as well.
