Search Me, O God

 Psa 139:23  Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!

Psa 139:24  And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

We inherited a sin nature from Adam. We are earthly and prone to sin. When we come to Jesus and are born again we have the Spirit of God living in us that cannot sin.

John 3:3  Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

John 3:6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

If we are born again of God's Spirit, then we have a Spirit that cannot sin. Sin grieves the Holy Spirit.  We still have the flesh body with it's sinful desires. So we submit to God and walk in the Spirit and truth or the flesh with it's demands. The natural man tempted by the devil is at war with the Holy Spirit.

As David prayed that the LORD would show to him any impure thoughts and to lead him in the way that is everlasting.  The Holy Spirit searches the heart and it is up to us to follow that which is good. It can be a battle,

2Co 10:3  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

2Co 10:4  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

2Co 10:5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Search Me, O God
