Deaf and dumb spirit

Mar 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Mar 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Mar 9:25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
Mar 9:26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
Mar 9:27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
Mar 9:28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
Mar 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

A deaf and dumb spirit. The boy was unable to speak. This was not a physical problem, but a spiritual one. He had a deaf and dumb spirit. These various spirits that inhabit some people are hard to remove and when they are cast out they bring pain to the body.

Mark 9:26 Then the spirit screamed and threw the boy into another violent convulsion and left him. The boy lay there motionless, and he appeared to be dead. A murmur ran through the crowd, "He's dead." (NLT)

He was delivered of the foul spirit. The disciples could not cast him out. Jesus said to them: This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Spirits cannot be cast out by the power of man or his own abilities. One must be prepared by fasting and prayer. It is a spiritual battle.

We will do battle with spirits.

1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
1Jn 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Do not go looking for spirits. It is not a game. Read what happened to the seven sons of Sceva.

Act 19:13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
Act 19:14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
Act 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Act 19:16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

Our faith must be real and Jesus must be seen in us through the Holy Spirit. Spirits know spirits, so what is in us must be the power of God, not just our human spirit and human effort. Through God, all things are possible.
