Do Good

Amo 5:14  Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you have said.
Amo 5:15  Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

Israel was in deep trouble because of their wickedness and spiritual adultery. God does not change, he is good and he loves justice and mercy. He expects the same from his chosen people. We were created in the image of God, sin had separated us. As a loving father, the LORD will chastise his children if they refuse to obey him; he will allow them to be taken in exile. Still, he watches over his people until the time of their redemption.

Psa 34:14  Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
Psa 34:15  The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.
Psa 34:16  The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
Psa 34:17  When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.

In the fullness of time, the LORD sent forth a deliverer. Jesus is the deliverer, rejected by the Jews he opened salvation to all people. This is the church, the gathering of the Gentiles with some of the Jews. At the Lords second coming Israel will be saved.

Rom 11:25  Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
Rom 11:26  And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;
Rom 11:27  “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”

These are perilous times and the Lord is calling people to repentance and to himself for the forgiveness of sins. The hope of the world is in coming to Jesus Christ. We can only do good by the presence of the Lord in our life.
