Unity and a Tower

Gen 11:4  And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
Gen 11:5  And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
Gen 11:6  And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
Gen 11:7  Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
Gen 11:8  So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
Gen 11:9  Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Unity of language and purpose is a powerful thing. Anything is possible if all are in agreement. The only thing preventing the glory of man is God. God is to be glorified. We are to be one with him and he is to direct our lives. I doubt that this tower was meant to honor God or to worship him. Early man was very intelligent, he was at his genetic best at his creation. Men were failing because of sin and before the flood and the genetic structure was being altered, but Noah had kept himself from the pollution of the world. Evolution has man evolving from lower forms of life, no this is not true. Man was created in the image of God and very intelligent. Ancient structures were marvels of engineering. Examples of early buildings exist today in the pyramids of Egypt.

Unity is powerful.  I remember as a child that everyone was wanting to help win the war; world war 2. Food was rationed, metal was donated for bullets and war machines.  Young men enlisted in the military, even the movie stars and celebrities like Glenn Miller and his swing band. America was never greater in production and unity than at this time. We trusted God and God helped us to defeat the enemies of the Jews and after the war Israel was reborn. Our future depends on our friendship with Israel.

We are no longer a united people under God, although this is still our emblem "In God we trust."  Division is in our nation, political division, racial division is being stirred up. Sometimes I wonder who our leaders serve? Gay marriage is exalted and freedoms are taken away. There is lack of respect for authority and no fear of God. The enemies of God are within our nation. Not only have we lost our moral compass, but we have thrown out the Bible and the God of Israel. Unless we repent and come together under God, we will no longer be a great nation.

Mat 12:25  And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

When  Islam pilots flew our passenger jets into the twin  towers, it was a sign that our God allowed this, perhaps because we had grown proud, greedy and had turned away from him. A new tower has been built in defiance of this act against America. The question is, will America still be defiant against the God who has blessed them? The tower of Babel was left because God confused the languages of this united people. He scattered them over the earth to populate the earth. There is unity in those who know the God of creation. In him we are one people. In Jesus our redeemer we are one, even if persecution scatters us His truth and unity will continue with us until Jesus returns. Will Jesus find faith when he returns?

Mark 9:23  Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

LORD God, I trust you and I want to obey you. You make impossible things possible. I pray for revival and unity in our nation and protection by your hand. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
