Seek God, not the darkness

Isa 8:19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

Being concerned about the coming invasion of Israel, why seek the occult? Why seek the darkness and the dead for the help of the living? Is not God the God of your help? Is he not the God of the living? When we fear something should we not go to LORD our help?

Mark 12:26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
Mark 12:27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

Psa 124:8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

You have the law and the testimony, the word of God and the stories in the Bible. If you have any truth or light in you, rely on these. Encourage yourself in the word of God, Psalms and hymns.

Isa 8:21 And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

They walk past the word of life, with no hunger for it. When the need comes and they cry out for help and wisdom, they worry and are upset, crying and complaining, because they did not hunger for God's truth. They curse those in authority and they blame God for their problems.

Isa 8:22 And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.

They see the troubles on the earth and rather than seeking God, they are driven to darkness. Dark despair, depression, false religion, and evil thoughts. Some commit suicide.

Luke 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

We are to be with those who trust Jesus and pray to God. We are not left to our own devices, God is our help and strength. Seek comfort in the Holy Bible and God will comfort you.

Mat 7:7  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Mat 7:8  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Mat 7:9  Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Mat 7:10  Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

Mat 7:11  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Feed Me

Mat 6:25  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Mat 6:26  Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

In a harvested field of grain, the Canadian geese land to glean the seeds left on the ground. Other geese graze in the grass of a nearby park. The Robins have their fill of Persimmons until the Starlings arrive. Then they strip the fruit from the tree. There squeak toy sound alerts the flock to join in the feast.  They are provided for, certainly we shall be provided for. Here in America there is abundance, no one should go without. Those with the heart of Jesus should reach out in someway meeting the needs of others.

Mat 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

Feeding the needy is as feeding Jesus and blessing him. There are missions, and churches giving aid to the needy. Sorry to say that many people are provided for, but throw their money into satan's collection plate. Many are addicted to drugs, alcohol, gambling, cigarettes, and other sins. These steal away God's provisions given to them. Don't be stressed out with concern, take your needs to God in prayer, trust him and he will bless you. Remember the ability to work is also his provision for you.

Eph 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

If you are unable to work, take your needs to the LORD.

Mat 6:33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

We become slaves to who we depend upon. We are to be bond slaves of Christ, free people choosing to serve him. The starling feasted on what was left of the persimmons, but I had first pick to share the abundance. We should be diligent to use the provision given to us, without waste so that we lack no good thing. I suppose in our nation there are too many starlings and not enough fruit pickers? I see this both in the natural and in the spiritual. Ultimately all good things come from our heavenly father, we give Him all honor, glory and praise, with thanksgiving.

Sin unto death

1 John 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

What is the sin unto death? Is it not rejecting Jesus as Lord and going out into the world? Where is the proof? I think you will know through the Spirit's witness if someone is not of God. Note, that John is speaking of a brother, a professing believer. A professing believer may not be truly committed to Christ.

I have seen people who left being a Christian who were enemies of the cross. They became antichrist like. Wolves doing all they could to destroy the faith of other people. We see them in the world going to court to stop the display of the ten commandments or placing anti God billboards in public places.

1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

1 John 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

I was one who for a time fell away, don't be too swift to abandon someone who has fallen away. It may be that a great trial or sorrow has come upon the person. If this is the case we should go to them seeking their restoration.

Gal 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Gal 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

James 5:19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
James 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Some are to be sought after and some are to be avoided.

Small Favors

Luke 11:46  And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

Last week I was in a supermarket and I saw a woman in pain trying to put a 24 pack of water in her cart. She had one hand that was all bandaged up and maybe in a cast; it hurt her to use it.  I went to help her; she was old, but not as old as I am and maybe she was self reliant, but it was time to ask for help. I placed the water in her cart and I counseled her to ask for help.  Most men would be glad to help her. Later, as I was leaving the store with a cart full of groceries I saw the lady again. A man was unscrewing a bottle for her to drink. I was glad to see that she would ask for help.

Tonight as I was leaving the college after our second concert I spotted a Christian lady, a horn player who was carrying her heavy horn case. I knew that she was having knee joint problems. I offered to carry her horn case to the car and she allowed me to do so. We chatted and talked about health problems and how it is best not to dwell on them, but to keep busy.  It may be some time before she will be able to have her knee joints replaced. We do our best while sharing the load with others and continuing in faith.

John 16:24  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

The Power of His Love

As Christians we are to love one another. I find fellowship with God and sometimes with others who venture out on the park trails in the early morning. Politicians have shut down part of the government, but it is a lovely day, all is well. The park is beautiful and I met friendly people on my morning walk.

An Evening Primrose greeted me as I
approached one of the ponds. The oil from
the seeds are used to treat skin problems.
Beauty is skin deep?
The LORD looks upon our hearts.

Eph 3:16  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Eph 3:17  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph 3:18  May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
Eph 3:19  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

I talked with this lady and petted her dogs.
She loves her dogs and feeds them "natural" food.
It takes 300 lbs a month to feed them.  Love the pets, love one another but love God with all your being. In
the name of Jesus is all power and all love.

There are several birdhouses on the trees.
This one is in need of repair. It reminds me of the
song made popular in the 50's
that Bob sings at the rest homes.

(This old house, by Stuart Hamblin)

I stopped to take this picture of a horse's head when
a little old lady wearing a hoody stopped to talk.
She said yes I see the horse and there are two more down the trail. I told her I would listen for them; laughter.

Three women were walking with their dog. It is getting cooler on this October morning and the dog had a pink sweater. I said to them, "being pink the dog must be a she...unless it was in a prison in Arizona?" They laughed. There was good fellowship this morning

Eph 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

A little red as the Autumn leaves begin to change.
Jesus shed a lot of blood to secure our salvation and
in a little while by faith he will return.
The Holy Spirit in us is the power of God. He is able to do
more than we ask or think. Think on that.
What will you ask God  ... through the Holy Spirit?
 Ask, and do not fear.
His love keeps us in his perfect peace.

Eph 3:21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

I Speak the name of Jesus and all is well with my soul.

Secret things

Deu 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Hold onto the things that God has revealed to you and trust him for what you do not know. We do have the responsibility to learn what he has told us and to obey him.

Job 38:3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
Job 38:5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
Job 38:6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Job 38:8 Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?

There is so much we are told and yet so much is a mystery. One mystery revealed to us is the church. We are the body of believers, the body of Christ and he is the head.

1Co 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
1Co 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Jesus paid the price for our sins with his blood and we became joint heirs with Christ, the children of God. He died on the cross in my place and has been raised from the tomb to give us eternal life. We have access to the mind of God our father, through the Holy Spirit who is our comforter.

1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1Co 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Jesus told us to ask of him and we will receive.

Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Many are going through afflictions. God knows and he is there for you.

Psa 91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
Psa 91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
Psa 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

We are destined to eternal life with God. Jesus is our Lord and King.

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
John 14:4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know

Jesus is the way to God; hear him and believe him. We are not to make mysteries out of what is revealed. Everything important to us he reveals to us. Believe in him always and take time to see and understand what he has shown to us.
