DAY OF ATONEMENT

Lev 16:34  And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

My calendar has on it "the day of atonement", the day is still a holy day for the Jews, although they have no temple to make a sacrifice for their sins.

When AOL was the portal to the Internet I would talk to many people in the chat rooms and on Instant messages.  Through these encounters many were brought out of bondage in body and in soul. Human trafficking has been a sin going on in our nation that many know nothing about. Runaway kids are being captured and forced into prostitution. For a few years our ministry helped many young women and men to escape bondage. One young lady who was freed, was a Jewish girl. Not by accident, the day of her freedom from bondage was on the calendar "Day of Atonement".  Isaiah spoke of setting captives free and Jesus in his ministry spoke that through him, this prophesy was fulfilled.

Isa 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Isa 61:2  To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Isa 61:3  To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

The freed men and women were cared for and given the word of God. Most everyone who was freed also believed in Jesus for the atonement for their sins. Many found jobs and were restored to personal freedom. Those who continue, being filled with the Holy Spirit are the adopted sons and daughters of God.

Joh 8:36  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
