It is time

Well, after taking my car to the garage, it was going to cost more to fix the '94 Lincoln, then it was worth. Apparently the government still buys old cars, so I could get a thousand or $1500 for the old car depending on my income. I have a friend who wanted to trade his small pickup for my old 72 Chevy pick up. I think I will make the trade. He has a '96 Nissan in very good condition.When he wanted to make a trade earlier, the time was not right, the time is right now. My friend is a retired mechanic who likes to fix up cars. He can make the truck get better gas mileage. He can clean it up add new paint and then he would have a classic truck. I bought the '72 pickup new with a loan from my father that I soon paid back. I have a lot of memories with that truck. I had a camper shell on it and when I married my wife we took it to the north coast on our honeymoon and traveled down the scenic oceanfront highway. We pulled onto the sandy beach road and got stuck in the sand. It was late so we just slept on the mattress in the camper and in the morning I dug in the sand and put driftwood under the tires to get it free.  We traveled on stopping at San Francisco for a Photo exhibit. That was 42 years ago. But now I only put a couple hundred miles on the truck every year. It runs good but the gas mileage is not good, so I do not drive it that much, just when I need to haul wood or broken limbs to the brush pile. Gas prices are dropping, who knows for how long? Can we predict anything in these unstable times? I do know that the Lord Jesus Christ knows what is going on and those who trust in him will always be with him. When the time is right he will return to rule the earth for a thousand years. When he came in a man walking among us he spoke the word of truth from God, his father. His father determines the time of his return. That time is coming closer. Are we coming closer to God in anticipation? The material things of this life will pass away, only what is of the Lord will last.

Luk 21:25  And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Luk 21:26  Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Luk 21:27  And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Luk 21:28  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Strange how things work. My friend called and after talking to his wife, they decided that it would not be a good idea to make the trade. It is always good to pray and to talk to your spouse before making a decision. Well, praise the Lord, I have my pick up back. It was my friend who wanted my truck, but the Lord had the final say.
