A Remnant Shall Return

Remnant, from the Hebrew shear: the rest, remnant, remainder

Isa 10:20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

A remnant of Israel and Judah, would trust the Lord and serve him. They no longer would put their trust in Assyria. Can a nation be saved by giving bribes? King Ahaz of Judah, tried this.

2 Ki 16:8 And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

Are alliances made with gifts? Judah had become as the enemy, seeking pleasures and false gods. Would not God chastise his wayward son? A merciful God offers comfort and a remnant of the children of the house of Jacob would return to him.

Rom 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Rom 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Isa 10:21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.

Remember Isaiah's son was named Shearjashubas, meaning, a remnant shall return, an illustration to King Ahaz.

Isa 7:3 Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;
Isa 7:4 And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted...

The remnant shall repent, be converted, believing in the coming Messiah and trust in God.

Isa 10:22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

This small remnant will overflow with righteousness.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Isa 10:23 For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

Most of the unrighteous would be consumed, destroyed and the righteous remnant shall be set free. Many of the prophecies have a double fulfillment, then and in the future reign of Christ. God shall always preserve a remnant of His people. When people turn from the truth, it is a sign of evil and of coming Judgment.

2 Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2 Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Choose who you will serve, for a dividing is taking place. Will you be of the remnant by faith in Jesus and God the Father? Isaiah named his son as a reminder that"a remnant shall return." God the Father called his son Jesus, savior and Immanuel, God with us. The Remnant shall return to Immanual; God With Us. The true people of God, though few, shall return to God. These are the holy spiritual seed that will bring forth a good harvest of souls.

In the time of Noah, a remnant, only Noahs family were saved. The age that we live in is as the time of Noah.

Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
Luke 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
Luke 17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
Luke 17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
Luke 17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
Luke 17:31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
Luke 17:32 Remember Lot's wife.
Luke 17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
Luke 17:34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
Luke 17:35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Luke 17:36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Are you with Christ Jesus or against him? This is no time to have a divided heart.The world may cast you away as something of no worth, but Jesus will never leave you. Stay close to Jesus and know that you are a part of the Remnant.

Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Mat 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?Mat 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Lot's wife looked back, for she loved the world more than God. She became a pillar of salt? Will we be the obedient Remnant salt of the earth?

Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Mat 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
