1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Lot's Family Rescued
Gen 19:15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
Gen 19:16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
Gen 19:17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
Gen 19:18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
Gen 19:19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

Gen 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah
brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
Gen 19:25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
Gen 19:26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Gen 19:30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain,
and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in
a cave, he and his two daughters.
The angels had to drag Lot and his family forcibly from Sodom and Gomorrah.
When the apostle Peter was saved in a prison by an angel, he was told to move
and follow the angel out of the prison. Peter followed the Lord and his angel.
Lot and his family were so in love with the evil world and living in an evil
city that they would not move without being forcibly dragged out of the cities
that were to be destroyed by the two angels. Lot was used to having his way and
refused to flee to the mountain. Instead he stopped in a small city called Zoar
across the Jordan river. When destruction came on the cities Lot's wife looked
back and was turned into a statue of salt. The word for salt also means dust or
powder. She was made into dust because of her disobedience. After this Lot and
his two daughters went up on the mountain and lived in a cave. They brought
their own evil with them. We must obey God. Jesus spoke these words of
warning:
Mat 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the
scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head
of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Mat 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Mat 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
LORD, I want to obey you and follow Jesus closely, not looking back to this
world's pleasures and resisting your will. Set my feet on the Solid Rock, LORD and keep me in your care
and protection. In Jesus name, amen
