Sense and Sensibilities

Pro 2:1  My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
Pro 2:2  So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Pro 2:3  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
Pro 2:4  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Pro 2:5  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Pro 2:6  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

I am to hide God's word in my heart, not just look at it, but hide it as a treasure in my heart.

Psa 119:10  With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
Psa 119:11  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psa 119:12  Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
Psa 119:13  With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.

I am to cry after knowledge and understanding. My lips are to declare the judgments of thy mouth. Out of the treasure of God's word I am to speak, not my words but His word, by the Holy Spirit I am to speak.

Act 2:4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

1Co 14:15  What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

The Holy Spirit is for wisdom and understanding,  the expression of divine wisdom and knowledge, not only in words of wisdom but in the work of my hands, my ears, mouth, and even in the smelling. All the senses are made alive by His Spirit.

I was reading about the Russian composer Shostakovich who wrote astounding music with his eyes, heart, ears and hands. Those eyes who could see so deeply into music were weak and disqualified him to serve in the Russian army during WW 2. If I am not fit for war, I can serve in the Lord's army. My senses, my mind, my heart are to serve my Lord.

The things of the world's thinking are enmity with the LORD.

Jas 4:4  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

As the world turns, sounds like a radio soap opera, but in another sense, as the world turns more and more against the things of God we will need His word in our hearts, His Spirit to work in and through us. We will need to encourage one another.

Heb 10:21  And having an high priest over the house of God;
Heb 10:22  Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10:23  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Heb 10:24  And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Heb 10:25  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

LORD, use all of me for your service. May Jesus Christ be lifted up.
