When we partake of the Lord's Supper or Communion. We break the bread and say that this is his body broken for us. However there was not one broken bone in Jesus. The prophets told us this and Jesus fulfilled the prophesies.
1Co 11:23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread,
1Co 11:24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
To hasten death for those nailed to a cross, their leg bones were broken.
John 19:32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who had been crucified with him.
John 19:33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.
John 19:34 But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water.
John 19:35 He who saw it has borne witness—his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth—that you also may believe.
John 19:36 For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken.”
Psa 34:20 He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.
Jesus was the Passover Lamb, slain for our sins. Not a bone of the Passover lamb was to be broken.
John 1:29 The next day he (John) saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
Exo 12:46 ... and you shall not break any of its bones.
His body was broken, the flesh was ripped off of his bones, and his bones were out of joint.
Psa 22:14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within my breast;
If we must suffer, just remember how very much Jesus suffered for us. Our suffering is partaking in the fellowship of his sufferings.
1Pe 4:12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.
1Pe 4:13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
1Pe 4:14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
1Pe 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler.
1Pe 4:16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.
"Sticks and stones may break our bones..." but not a bone of Jesus was broken, as foretold in the Word of God. Jesus was fully human and fully the son of God who was with God the father at the beginning of the world. He chose to identify with us by suffering as a human.
Heb 2:9 But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
Heb 2:10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.
The word of God is truth.
