Your Temple

1Co 6:19  Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
1Co 6:20  for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

A temple is a place to worship God. A Christian may go to a church building but the presence of the Holy Spirit makes our body a temple of the Holy Spirit. God is spirit and he dwells in the born again believer. Jesus told Nicodemus, the Pharisee that you are first born of water, a natural birth, (some say it is the water of the word of God) and you must be born again of the Holy Spirit.

Joh 3:5  Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Joh 3:6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Jesus had the Holy Spirit.

Luk 3:21  Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened,
Luk 3:22  and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

One of my favorite verses is John 14:27, that promises peace. and it follows the receiving of the Holy Spirit in vs 26.

Joh 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Joh 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

If you have asked Jesus to forgive your sins and come into your heart, he is with the Holy Spirit.  A wise teacher spoke of how to receive the Holy Spirit; you pray and ask God the Father.

Luk 11:13  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit or the filling, requires diligence.

Heb 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Jesus paid the price so that we may partake of the Holy Spirit and overcome our natural self. We worship him in Spirit and in truth.

Joh 4:23  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Joh 4:24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
