Pro 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people
perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
A prophet was called a seer. He was able to see and hear from
God and it was to be spoken before a people. Without vision, without seeing the
message of God, the people perish. Contrast not seeing God's word with those who
know and obey God; Happy is he that keepeth the law. It is good to set goals,
especially those inspired of God. Some seeking power, have given up godly
counsel for the relentless pursuit of power and money. they may use even evil
methods of lying, cheating and manipulating to achieve their goal of power.
Often when they have what they wanted, they are still empty and not satisfied. It is better to seek the things of God. If we see what God is saying to us, from prayer and reading his
word, we keep our souls in touch with the living God and we do
well.
Pro 11:17 The merciful man doeth good to his own
soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any
man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow
me.
Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Mat 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
