The Baptism of Jesus

 Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

The promise of the comforter, the Holy Spirit.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Another Comforter; Who else is our Comforter? The Lord Jesus Christ.

John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

John the Baptist describes this:

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Water baptism is an outward sign of a commitment to Jesus. Some churches sprinkle water, others believe in full immersion. Some churches insist that only their way of saying words and in their denomination is the way of salvation. No, that is legalism and works. Salvation is by faith in Jesus, receiving his grace.

Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

The baptism of Jesus is to be "immersed" in the Holy Spirit.This is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The filling of God's Spirit brings the truth and power of God to the witness for Jesus. The baptism of fire is the conviction and burning away and repentance of sins. Our God is a consuming fire, no flesh or sin can stand before him.

The promised baptism would occur at Pentecost, in 10 days.
