Lord of the Flies

Exo 8:29  Then Moses said, “Behold, I am going out from you and I will plead with the LORD that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, tomorrow. Only let not Pharaoh cheat again by not letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.”

Exo 8:30  So Moses went out from Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD.

Exo 8:31  And the LORD did as Moses asked, and removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; not one remained.

Exo 8:32  But Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and did not let the people go.

Each of the plagues given to Egypt were against the many gods that the Egyptians served.  Baalzebub is a reference to the lord of the flies, a god of the Philistines as seen in 2Kings.

2Ki 1:2  Now Ahaziah fell through the lattice in his upper chamber in Samaria, and lay sick; so he sent messengers, telling them, “Go, inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I shall recover from this sickness.”

2Ki 1:3  But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?

The angel of the LORD was telling the prophet Elijah to redirect the messengers. Do not go to a demonic god, trust in the God of Israel. Whether you are healed or not is up to your God who is Lord of all life.

Beelzebub is mentioned again in the gospel of Matthew. Satan is referred to as being Beelzebub, the prince of demons. The lord of flies: Flies are nasty and pesky tormentors. The devil's demons are as that to the souls of people. Again the focus was on healing and by what power.

Mat 12:22  Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw.

Mat 12:23  And all the people were amazed, and said, “Can this be the Son of David?”

Mat 12:24  But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this man casts out demons.”

Mat 12:25  Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.

Mat 12:26  And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?

Mat 12:27  And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.

Mat 12:28  But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. In Egypt it was Jehovah who removed the flies and he worked through Jesus to drive out the demons and to heal.

Deu 10:17  For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe.

Rev 19:11  Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

Rev 19:12  His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.

Rev 19:13  He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.

Rev 19:14  And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses.

Rev 19:15  From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.

Rev 19:16  On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

Jesus is coming to earth again to defeat the enemies of God. Will we be as Pharaoh with a hardened heart towards the Lord of Lords? Come to Jesus who shed his blood to remove our sins and who is coming again to remove the evil. He is the Lord of eternal life. He is the Lord of lords.
