Mat 13:52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every
scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is
an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
I must have read this several times, but only now does it seem
new to me. Every scribe, a scribe knows the word of God, he knows every word
carefully writing it without error. He is instructed unto or about the kingdom
of heaven. He is like a householder that brings forth new and old treasures. The
spiritual kingdom of heaven treasures are both the old and the new testaments.
The prophets spoke and many prophecies were fulfilled in the New Testament and
will be fulfilled in the coming years or days.
The apostle Paul was one who knew the old testament and by
revelation of God he applied his knowledge in speaking of the New Covenant. We
are to read the whole Bible so that the Holy Spirit can reveal things to us, new
and old things in a new light. The Old Testament often is as parables or symbols
of spiritual truths revealed in the New Testament. The types and shadows in the
old are met by the revealing light of God in the new. If there are shadows it is
because we have not enough of the light. With God there are no shadows for he is
light and truth.
Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is
from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no
variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Jas 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
