Abraham was justified by faith and received grace
Rom 4:24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we
believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
Rom 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Rom 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ:
We had quite a discussion in our Tuesday night Bible study about
justification by faith. Justification is to be made righteous in our standing
with God. We are justified by faith in Jesus Christ and receive peace with God through the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22,23). By faith we receive Grace,
unmerited favor. We do not earn it, but it is given to us for salvation, for
doing the work of God and for our eternal inheritance as adopted children of
God.
Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Eph 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Eph 2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
This passage of verses in Ephesians sums it up. By faith we receive
abundant grace and above all we are connected to God the Father who loves us.
His love first filled us so that we can give it out to others along with the
good news that in Jesus Christ our sins are forgiven, by faith. A true believer
will repent from sin and die daily to self will and take up his cross and follow
Jesus. The cross is where the old sinful self died so that we obey God and walk
in our new life in Jesus Christ. How sweet is his love for us.
