King of Sodom

Gen 14:17  After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley).
Gen 14:18  And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.)
Gen 14:19  And he blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;
Gen 14:20  and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!" And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
Gen 14:21  And the king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself."
Gen 14:22  But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have lifted my hand to the LORD, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth,
Gen 14:23  that I would not take a thread or a sandal strap or anything that is yours, lest you should say, 'I have made Abram rich.'

The king of Sodom came out to meet Abram after his victory over kings who had taken Lot captive. We must be aware that after we experience a victory, that this king representing the devil, will rush in to tempt you to rely on him. But from out of nowhere another king, the king of Salem, a priest of the most high God came blessing Abram and offering him bread and wine. These were symbols of the communion of Jesus Christ. Melchizedek was a type of Christ. Abram gives a tithe to the king of Salem (Jerusalem) and he refused any gain from the king of Sodom. God wants to bless us. Satan will seek to give us desires, but he seeks to destroy your soul. God's Holy Spirit will give you truth and be your supplier of every blessing. Do the will of God and seek not the support of the devil and the world.

Mat 6:33  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
