Ezekiel sees another vision of the LORD's chariot throne, now
including the man clothed in linen, who has authority to judge and to save. The
LORD would leave the temple before it's destruction.
Eze 10:1 Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament
that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a
sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
Eze 10:2 And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.
Eze 10:2 And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.
Coals of fire was the description of the Cherubim. This represents judgment
in the city of Jerusalem. The angels look like coals of fire, Perhaps they would
send lightning to burn the city?
Eze 1:13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was
like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and
down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire
went forth lightning.
Eze 10:3 Now the cherubims stood on the right side of
the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.
Eze 10:4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD'S glory.
Eze 10:4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD'S glory.
The glory
of the LORD departed from the temple in stages. First it was over the threshold.
Then over the cherubim, vs. 18, the east gate, vs. 19. Finally to the Mt. of
Olives in the east.
Eze 11:23 And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of
the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.
The glory of the LORD would leave the Ark of the
Covenant to the threshold of the temple. Then he would be over the cherubim and
finally to the mountains to the east; the Mount of Olives. This is where Jesus
went to the Garden of Gethsemane and where he went up into a cloud. He will
return there and the ground will split when his feet touch the
ground.
Zec 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day
upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount
of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west,
and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove
toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
