Pro 13:3 Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
Our president is a good man, but being a man who speaks his mind, it often causes problems. A prophet who speaks the word of God may be offensive to some, but the word is pure and the truth. Some will not hear the man because they have formed a negative opinion of him. We must all learn to hold our tongues and to speak as from the Lord with wisdom and grace.
Moses was fearful to speak what the LORD told him to speak to Pharaoh. He made excuses.
Exo 4:10 But Moses said to the LORD, "Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue."
Exo 4:11 Then the LORD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?
Exo 4:12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak."
If the LORD calls you for a purpose he will supply what is required. It is the word of God that we speak. We get into trouble when we speak from our own thoughts, or lack of thinking. James had a lot to say about our tongue.
Jas 1:26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
Jas 1:27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
Jas 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.
Those fiery darts from the devil may just come from our talking too much without thinking.
Jas 3:8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
Jas 3:9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God.
Jas 3:10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
What spirit are we of?
2Co 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.
2Co 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
2Co 10:5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
A Christian has the mind of Christ, so let his mind speak, not our own careless words. Speak words that build up the hearer, even words of correction, if given in mercy and love.
