The Son and the sons

Tomorrow is Christmas and the Christmas message is found in so many places in the Bible. God gave  himself as a gift to the sons of Adam. The gift was to exchange the life of Jesus Christ to pay for our sins and with the exchange we are changed into the adopted sons of God. Jesus Christ came as a human baby, born of a virgin. He died to pay for our sins and is risen to eternal glory. All we must do is to receive Jesus and be made free from the curse of sin and death and hell. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost and yet there is a dividing, for not all will come to him. Some refuse him from stubborn pride, some refuse because they cannot believe that they can be made clean and whole. Others are made as enemies of God choosing the way of satan: to steal, to kill and to destroy. They live by a lie. The laws are made to channel people toward obedience to God.

Gal 4:1  I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything,
Gal 4:2  but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father.
Gal 4:3  In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world.
Gal 4:4  But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,
Gal 4:5  to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
Gal 4:6  And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"
Gal 4:7  So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

We must receive the free gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus.
In Jesus, we are changed, filled with the Holy Spirit and sent forth.  As his disciples, we become channels of blessing and salvation to the seekers of truth. Wise men seek him.

Thankful for friends and family

We used to have family gatherings with my brothers at my folks house. When they died and my oldest brother died, we no longer get together. Sometimes the gatherings were not so smooth, with someone getting drunk or the lack of concern for each other. There is no family like the family of God. My friends love the Lord. My immediate family are Christians.

My wife Faye, is looking forward to having my son and family visit this afternoon. They asked if she could be put in a wheelchair in the living room instead of her bedroom. She is in good spirits and the turkey is in the oven, I am thankful for Jesus my savior. I am thankful for my family, the family of God. There is no strife when we come together.

Pro 17:1  Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.

I love the peace that comes from the Holy Spirit. Even being alone with a crust of bread can bring peace and thanksgiving. My good friend Earl died two years ago. He would sing his mother's favorite hymn; Never Alone.

I’ve seen the lightning flashing, I’ve heard the thunder roll.
I’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing, which almost conquered my soul.
I’ve heard the voice of my Savior, bidding me still to fight on.
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!

Refrain

No, never alone, no never alone,
He promised never to leave me,
He’ll claim me for His own;
No, never alone, no never alone.
He promised never to leave me,
Never to leave me alone.

When in affliction’s valley I tread the road of care,
My Savior helps me carry the cross so heavy to bear;
Though all around me is darkness, earthly joys all flown;
My Savior whispers His promise, never to leave me alone!

Refrain

No, never alone, no never alone,
He promised never to leave me,
He’ll claim me for His own;
No, never alone, no never alone.
He promised never to leave me,
Never to leave me alone.

Bearing your burden

Mat 23:2  Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Mat 23:3  All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
Mat 23:4  For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

Gal 6:1  Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Gal 6:2  Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Gal 6:3  For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
Gal 6:4  But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
Gal 6:5  For every man shall bear his own burden.

For those under a heavy burden I point you to Jesus who cares for you and carries your burdens. I offer my love and sympathy, pointing you to Jesus. The Pharisees knew the word, but did not do anything to help anyone. In truth we often speak words to encourage others but in the end we must bear our own burden. We are to give it to Christ Jesus. There is one intercessor between man and God; Jesus our advocate and Great High Priest. We cannot work to please him, but we are to trust in him. He is our burden bearer and deliverer. Thank you Jesus.

Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Walk on, bearing your cross, trusting and obeying him.

Fear the sword

Job 19:29  Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.

I see this as the sword of God's judgment.  We have read that those who live by the sword, shall die by the sword.

Mat 26:52  Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

What we should fear is the wrath of God or the judgment of God against evil doers. To fear God is a just and righteous act. To take up the sword, to use force to achieve an ungodly purpose is setting yourself up for the judgment of God. It may not be directly from God, as a fire from heaven, as in the final war against God, but those who sin are actually warring against God. They may die by the sword of their enemy as a just punishment. Or they may cry to God for mercy as David did after his transgression with Bathsheba.

Psa 51:2  Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Psa 51:3  For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Psa 51:4  Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

David received mercy from the LORD but the results of his sin played out in his family. We have eight years of Obama and now it appears that his legacy will be erased by a new conservative law abiding change of government. The ten trillion dollars of additional debt still stands and it is predicted that the dollar will crash because of this heavy debt. The results of sin cannot be entirely erased. Sins have consequences.

Coming to Jesus for forgiveness of sins will cleanse you in God's eyes. The results of your sins may still affect your children or those who were affected by them. What you sow you will reap.

Gal 6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Gal 6:8  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

So seek God to do his will and receive Jesus as your savior. An eternity in the presence of a loving God is your reward. This is the undeserved grace of God. Thank you Jesus.

No False Gospel

Gal 1:8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:10  For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Gal 1:11  But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
Gal 1:12  For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

The gospel of Jesus Christ: Jesus, the Son of God,  came from heaven to be the way to God. He gave his lifeblood on the cross to pay for our sins. By faith in him we receive forgiveness grace to become the children of God. Buried with him in baptism, we are raised in new Spiritual life with him. We are born again. We walk in the spirit and are not under the power of the flesh and the devil. Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. Keep the faith for Jesus is the only way to the Father, Almighty God.

Eph 2:4  But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Eph 2:5  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Eph 2:6  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Eph 2:7  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Preferring the old way

Many of those who are mature in the Lord prefer some of the old things. We like the old hymns better than the new. Many prefer the old hymn books, the organ, the old fashioned altar in the church. We prefer the old time preaching warning of sin and hell. Much of what is in churches today has strayed from the preaching of the gospel. Some have not strayed from the old ways. One local church has as it's motto a verse from the prophet Jeremiah.

Jer 6:16  Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

For some, change is difficult and resisted, preferring the old ways. Let us prefer the way of truth and righteousness by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Luk 5:37  And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
Luk 5:38  But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.
Luk 5:39  No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

The religious leaders of the Old Covenant preferred the old wine, for it made them intoxicated and the Scribes and Pharisees were intoxicated by their positions of power to accuse and to kill.  Jesus did many good works and miracles. but they did not understand him, nor did they see him as he was; the Messiah, the Son of God. Perhaps they saw him but refused to accept him because of jealousy.

People resist change, preferring the old ways. Some called the "Judaizers" tried to mix the old wine with the new. They wanted people of the new covenant to be circumcised as was the law of Abraham and Moses, but salvation in Christ Jesus is not by works, but of faith. Circumcision was not of the flesh, but it was of the heart. We are to seek the "good way", we are to walk in the Spirit. The "law" people try to force the believer into a way that is not the way of God's grace. They seek to place people under bondage to laws of their choosing.

Gal 1:6  I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Gal 1:7  Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

The new covenant is not against the laws of God, for Jesus fulfilled all the laws, even circumcision, so that by faith in Jesus we are free from the guilt of breaking laws. The old covenant showed us our sins, our missing the perfect law of God ,but sin brought death. Jesus brought life by his shed blood so that by faith in him, we are saved from the punishment of our sins. He took our punishment upon himself. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving my soul and making my spirit alive in you. Let us partake of the new wine in your New Covenant and walk in the best paths.

Seek Proof

2Co 13:3  Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

Because of the influence of false teachers, some in the church at Corinth were thinking that Paul was not an apostle sent from God. They were questioning him, accusing him of not being the real thing.

In today's world of Christianity we see many kinds of churches. Some are rich and prosperous and man centered. Much of what is taught in them is motivation for success, but not necessarily from God's word. Many have big names, and have a big following by teaching to itching ears, telling the people what they want to hear. There are some word churches that teach the word of God. They are cautious towards strange preachers, examining them by the word of God. This is as the church of Ephesus in Revelation. Jesus spoke to them that they had left their first love of him. They were swift to judge but slow to love others.

Rev 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Paul goes on to say that the church should examine themselves before examining others.

2Co 13:5  Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
2Co 13:6  But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

Paul was concerned for souls, not seeking personal glory. If Paul seemed to be as a reprobate to them, it is on Paul. They need to be sure about their own salvation.

2Co 13:7  Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
2Co 13:8  For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

We can do nothing but the truth. The word of God is true and Jesus is the truth; the way, the truth and the life, so walk in the light of God's truth.

Rom 14:4  Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

There are some who make a ministry of finding fault with every preacher or teacher. My advise to them is to look twice at their own heart before making judgements of others. I was warned in a dream about being to quick to judge another person. We all have faults so we should seek to bring life and truth with love. Love is stronger than anything we can do or say, as in 1 Corinthians 13. We are to keep our eyes on Jesus, our first love.

Ask

Joh 14:12  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Joh 14:13  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Joh 16:24  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Eph 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Eph 3:21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

All power and authority has been given to Jesus and through him we may ask the Father for anything in his will and he will do it. You must believe on Jesus and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. He is able to to do exceedingly above all that we ask and think, so do not limit the power of God in answering your request in prayer. I ask that my wife be healed and strengthened and be used of God for greater things. I ask that you receive of God abundantly, even more according to his will. I ask for this for myself as well. Fill me Lord, use me in ways I have not yet imagined. In Jesus I ask this and all glory be to God. Amen

At the Cross

Eph 2:12  That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Eph 2:13  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Eph 2:14  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Eph 2:15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Eph 2:16  And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Eph 2:17  And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
Eph 2:18  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Eph 2:19  Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Eph 2:20  And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Jesus on the cross paid the price to redeem all who come to him, from the Jews and Gentiles (all humans). We are made one by faith in Christ Jesus, we are brothers and sisters not separated from each other but made one body of Christ, for he dwells in us. His Spirit inhabits us making us the dwelling place of God. God's Spirit stays with us, to comfort us, to guide us in all wisdom and truth. This was accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ at the cross.

At the Cross
by Isaac Watts

Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sov’reign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?

Refrain:
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

A dear pastor friend lost his wife a number of years ago. He is now in his mid eighties being busy ministering to others and teaching. He reflected that he had lost his joy. How sad to be alone and without joy. Are we ever alone when there are so many brothers and sisters in the Lord? Let us be encouragers and sing the hymns of praise, for joy and peace are the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Like David, sometimes we feel alone, but he encouraged himself in the Lord and so shall we be encouraged.

Thus might I hide my blushing face
While His dear cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt my eyes to tears.

Refrain:
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

But drops of grief can ne’er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give myself away,
’Tis all that I can do.

May we be blessed in Jesus and a blessing to others.

I shall not be ashamed

Isa 50:4  The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
Isa 50:5  The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
Isa 50:6  I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
Isa 50:7  For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
Isa 50:8  He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.
Isa 50:9  Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

The Messiah speaks wise words in season to those who are weary. Morning by morning the LORD speaks into his ear and he is not rebellious to what he hears. He is obedient, walking in the Father's light.

Lam 3:22  It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Lam 3:23  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

He gave his back to be whipped, they plucked the hair from his cheeks and he did not hide his face from shame and spitting. Why? because it was their shame and not his own. He came to take our shame upon himself to the cross so that we by faith in him may be free of shame and guilt.

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The LORD God will help him, Jesus had a mission to accomplish and he set his face like a flint, cutting through the shame until that day he would quietly speak from the cross "it is finished."

John 19:30  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Jesus is risen from the grave and lives in his people so that we may say with him: "Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? "

Rom 8:31  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Rom 8:32  He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Rom 8:33  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Rom 8:34  Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Rom 8:35  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom 8:36  As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Rom 8:37  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Rom 8:38  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Clean Hands

Job 17:7  My eye has grown dim from vexation, and all my members are like a shadow.
Job 17:8  The upright are appalled at this, and the innocent stirs himself up against the godless.
Job 17:9  Yet the righteous holds to his way, and he who has clean hands grows stronger and stronger.

Vexation; Annoyed, frustrated, exasperated or worried. Job says: "all my members are like a shadow". A shadow is only a symbol of something real.  Job is weak in himself, he has no confidence in his flesh and his counsellors annoy him. The "upright", the innocent stirs themselves against evil and injustice; the cause of the suffering.  The righteous keep going, those with "clean hands grows stronger and stronger"; hands not stained with innocent blood. A person by faith made clean by the blood of Jesus Christ our redeemer. His pure blood and life given for us so that we, by faith are forgiven from above and strengthened for our life here and now. By faith Job would speak of his redeemer.

Job 19:25  For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Job 19:26  And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
Job 19:27  Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

Hold onto the hand of Jesus and his strength will be with you until you meet him in glory.

Kenya Evangelical Mission

I received a notice by email that my long time missionary friend, Hoyt Osborn had gone to be with the Lord. He and his wife Lois were members of the local Bible teaching church, along with my wife and I. A missionary had given a talk and Hoyt and Lois felt the calling to be missionaries. They thought that they would go to Japan but that door closed. Determined to go to Africa they were accepted at a school in Kenya where Hoyt was a teacher. In their spare time and on weekends they would go into the bush and teach the gospel message. The Lord was blessing them and they built a church and with their success Churches and friends in the U.S. began to support them as missionaries. In twenty seven years they built twenty seven churches, schools and Bible colleges. The work continues. Please watch the video.

Boast in the Lord

2Co 10:3  For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.

2Co 10:4  For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
2Co 10:5  We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

2Co 10:17  "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord."
2Co 10:18  For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

It is pretty obvious that the politicians use a worldly standard and we know that the devil is king of the world's thinking. We see in the political debates that the object is to discredit the opponent, to make him or her to look bad. Even some who were Christian responded to attacks with more attacks, being offended and reacting in a personal way. How difficult it seems to be for those seeking power to do what the word of God says; instead they use the devil's tools of destroying by harsh words. We are not all politicians but all of us are in a fight over what is right and what is wrong. How many truthfully are more interested in defending the Lord? Most seek to look good, to defend themselves. Is it more important to look good to others than it is to be approved of God? We are fortunate when we do not have to fight enemies on the world's political stages, but each of us has a platform and a place to speak and to do things that edify the Lord. Let us be sure that we are not seeking our own glory but may we glorify the Lord with our lives. Love one another. There is a collision coming of the world against freedom of religion. We may not lawfully speak what God's word says. We must speak the truth. When you vote for a president, vote for the one who speaks the truth more than lies. We have allowed lies to continue in our nation  to our shame. All liars will be cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 21:8)

Jesus Astonished the Doctors

Luk 2:41  Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.
Luk 2:42  And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.
Luk 2:43  And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.
Luk 2:44  But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
Luk 2:45  And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.
Luk 2:46  And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
Luk 2:47  And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
Luk 2:48  And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
Luk 2:49  And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?
Luk 2:50  And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

At the age of twelve a Jewish boy was to begin to learn his father's business. Joseph was a carpenter but Jesus'  Father was God Almighty. He astonished the learned doctors of the written word of God with his understanding and answers.  As I think of the titles of Jesus, the Living Word comes to mind. Jesus as a babe growing up as a young Jewish boy was beginning to take hold of who he was and his ministry on earth as a human and as the only begotten Son of God. He is an example to us. When we as humans began to see the things of God and were born again of the Spirit we began to learn and develope in the ministries God has for us. It is a great wonder that God humbled himself in the form of a human infant who grew slowly as a human but with the title and responsibilities of the Son of God. Jesus the Son from heaven was from everlasting. Jesus born of woman was the second Adam, come to redeem his people.

I will try to be clever and say that Jesus is still astonishing the doctors, the doctors of medical science. Jesus heals those with no hope of recovery and the doctors are astonished and they do not understand his miracles. To God be the glory and praise the name of Jesus, our savior for all things are possible with God.

Tittle-tattle

Pro 11:13  A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Talebearers or gossipers speak of the faults and failings of others, or reveal potentially embarrassing or shameful details regarding the lives of others without their knowledge or approval. Even if they mean no harm, it is still gossip.

gossip...casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true.

I knew a woman who could not keep a secret. The most private of conversations were revealed by her. I felt sorry for those whose secrets were betrayed. Often she would broadcasts things that she thought were true about others, that were not true. She had many good qualities but perhaps from loneliness, she could not keep a secret.

Paul spoke of the widows who often spent time with other women gossiping instead of keeping busy and keeping quiet.

1Ti 5:13  And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

busybodies...busybody is a nosy, meddling person, who's very interested in what other people say and do. If you're a busybody, you can't help offering advice to friends, whether they want it or not. Busybodies are known for trying to help with situations in which they're not necessarily welcome or needed.

If you hear something about another that puts them in a bad light, do not repeat it. If it involves you, do some research on it and confront the person who offends or who is offended. Do not broadcast negative words about another person.

tittle-tattle...idle talk; gossip.

Pro 18:7  A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
Pro 18:8  The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

I think most of us have said words that should not have been said. We are to speak words that edify not to tear down another. None of us are without faults. Thank God that he forgives us when we confess our faults through the blood of Jesus our savior.

1Jn 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn 1:10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Prosperity

Isa 48:17  Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.
Isa 48:18  Oh that you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea;
Isa 48:19  your offspring would have been like the sand, and your descendants like its grains; their name would never be cut off or destroyed from before me."
Isa 48:20  Go out from Babylon, flee from Chaldea, declare this with a shout of joy, proclaim it, send it out to the end of the earth; say, "The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob!"
Isa 48:21  They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he split the rock and the water gushed out.
Isa 48:22  "There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked."

The end of Israel's captivity was near. They never would have been taken into Babylon if they had obeyed the LORD, who teaches and leads them to profit. They were to tell the world of their deliverance with "shouts of Joy". They were reminded how the LORD supplied their needs giving them water in the desert journey. He sums up his exhortation to his people saying, with the wicked, "there is no peace".

There is peace in the Holy Spirit, and righteousness in those who come to Jesus.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

2Co 7:10  For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Godly sorrow in those who obey the LORD results in repentance to salvation. The sorrow of the world, is sorrow for being caught, but with no repentance and turning to God. They accumulate wealth by evil means with no satisfaction and their end is death.

Mat 16:24  Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mat 16:25  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Mat 16:26  For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

God's people seek his truth and obey him and are profitable. True prosperity is of the soul and spirit.

3Jn 1:2  Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Together With Him

2Co 6:1  We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

We, the body of Christ, the born again believers called the Church, the Bride of Christ; together with others of the faith in Christ and most importantly those who walk together with Christ and by the Holy Spirit  who are led into all good works. Remember we are to work together with God. The Spirit beseeches us who have been called and accepted as adopted children of God, that we not receive in vain the grace, the enabling power of God,  We are not to ignore our position in Christ, in vain, as if it were nothing. Vain means empty of worth. A vain person seeks only her own comforts and delights in the flesh. We are to delight ourselves in the Lord. Paul, in the Spirit warns us to not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. We are to be yoked with Christ. Jesus says that his yoke is easy.

Mat 11:28  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Mat 11:30  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Christ in us does the work of God and we are to submit to him. There are no problems facing us that cannot be overcome by the power of God in us. Paul lists many afflictions that he had endured for the faith.

2Co 6:3  Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:
2Co 6:4  But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, ...

Prepare yourselves being led by the Holy Spirit, for the world will hate you and persecute you and even some in the church will oppose you and discourage you. Also, we are not to entertain other spirits. Test the spirits to see if they are of God. Do they acknowledge that Jesus is Lord? Even the demons recognize Jesus, but the Spirit of God will know the truth.  Come out from among them and give yourself completely to the Lord.

2Co 6:17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
2Co 6:18  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Come out from the unclean things and be separated, anointed of God, and we shall be called a son or daughter  of the Most High God; the Lord Almighty.  Be an example of a servant and son of God. Follow Jesus and be with him always.

Joh 12:26  If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

May we let God work through us to accomplish his purpose and be wise in our choices.

The Golden Image of a Man

Dan 3:10  Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:
Dan 3:11  And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
Dan 3:12  There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Do we serve the golden image of a man? What is this image? Is it not the thoughts and decrees of a man that rise above the constitution and time honored laws of God? The constitution was established by those of faith in the Almighty God. They knew that for the constitution to stand that men and women should honor and respect the will of God. To change the laws of two thousand years, to conform to the crafty inventions of a man; this is an abomination. A people who have drifted away from God have taught their children to follow the golden image of a man. Whenever the light that shines truth is seen in public life it is covered by decrees of man and it is taught that they are wrong. Wrong becomes right, evil becomes good and a nation is headed for destruction by worshipping the golden image of a man. This is being politically correct. Let the light of God's truth shine from your heart. Jesus is my leader and master, I will follow him.
