I Walk the Line

Pro 4:20  My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.
Pro 4:21  Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart.
Pro 4:22  For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.
Pro 4:23  Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
Pro 4:24  Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.
Pro 4:25  Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.
Pro 4:26  Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.
Pro 4:27  Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.

Johnny Cash sang the popular song "I walk the Line. I keep a close watch on this heart of mine. I keep my eyes open all the time."Our ears and eyes are kept on the word of God. We keep our heart with all vigilance avoiding devious talk and crooked speech. Keep your eyes straight ahead. Walk the straight path and keep your eyes upon Jesus, not doing evil. and let Jesus be seen in you.

The Golden Rule

Pro 3:27  Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

How do we know those who are due to receive good?  I think of Jesus who did good to all who came to him. So he was aware of needs in the people around him. He even traveled through Samaria to meet an immoral woman at the well in the heat of the day. Jesus loved sinners and wanted them to receive his good message of life and healing in his name. Whatever we do in the name of Jesus will be awarded.

Mat 10:39  He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Mat 10:40  He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
Mat 10:41  He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
Mat 10:42  And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

It is reward enough to see the smile on the face of one who has received good. Some may be changed, some may bless the Lord, and some may take the blessing and waste it on drugs or strong drink. We are to do good in an evil and twisted world. Good is stronger than evil. Remember the golden rule?

Mat 7:12  Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

King for my purpose

Isa 45:1  Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have grasped, to subdue nations before him and to loose the belts of kings, to open doors before him that gates may not be closed:
Isa 45:2  "I will go before you and level the exalted places, I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut through the bars of iron,
Isa 45:3  I will give you the treasures of darkness and the hoards in secret places, that you may know that it is I, the LORD, the God of Israel, who call you by your name.
Isa 45:4  For the sake of my servant Jacob, and Israel my chosen, I call you by your name, I name you, though you do not know me.
Isa 45:5  I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know me,
Isa 45:6  that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.
Isa 45:7  I form light and create darkness, I make well-being and create calamity, I am the LORD, who does all these things.

God chose and anointed a pagan king by name because he wanted to use him to restore Israel back into their land. God went before him and all Asia was to be put under his dominion and rule.  The LORD chooses and gives his chosen special abilities for his service. Cyrus was used to bless God's people even though Cyrus was a pagan king. What other god can tell the future even naming the deliverer?

Our LORD also told us about another deliverer who was to be a king and to deliver his people from their sins.

Isa 9:6  For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Jesus Christ was sent to save his people and the lost sheep of all mankind. He is coming again to save all of Israel and to establish his Millennial kingdom on earth.

A Gentile Deliverer

Isa 44:28  who says of Cyrus, 'He is my shepherd, and he shall fulfill all my purpose'; saying of Jerusalem, 'She shall be built,' and of the temple, 'Your foundation shall be laid.'"

This prophecy of Cyrus a shepherd, a leader who will fulfill all my (God's) purpose. He will speak to restore Jerusalem and the temple. This prophecy was given two hundred years before Cyrus was born. Jeremiah prophesied of a 70 year exile for the Jews. When the leader was in power he read the prophesies and was obedient to the LORD.

Ezr 1:1  In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing:

Ezr 1:2  "Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
Ezr 1:3  Whoever is among you of all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and rebuild the house of the LORD, the God of Israel—he is the God who is in Jerusalem.

Will Donald Trump be another Cyrus? Or is it too late for America as many believe? The LORD hears the prayers of his people. For many in the nation their willful wrongdoing has shut their eyes and ears to God's truth. If Trump is elected he will continue to need our prayers. The LORD knows his plans for the future. America has turned from God in many ways. If the worse comes it no doubt is God's judgement for turning away from him. We look to Jesus and not our own thoughts. May the LORD's will be done.
Salvation is for all who will come to Jesus.

Joh 3:16  "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Joh 3:17  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Joh 3:18  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Wisdom from Job

Job 12:10  Every animal that lives and everyone who breathes-- they are all under God's power.
Job 12:11  But just as the tongue tastes food, the ears test the words they hear.
Job 12:12  People say, 'Wisdom is to be found in those who are old. Long life brings understanding.'
Job 12:13  But wisdom and power belong to God. Good advice and understanding are his.
Job 12:14  Anything God tears down cannot be rebuilt. Anyone he puts in prison cannot be set free.
Job 12:15  If he holds back the rain, the earth will dry up. If he lets the rain loose, it will flood the land.
Job 12:16  God is strong and always wins. He controls those who fool others and those who are fooled.
Job 12:17  He strips advisors of their wisdom and makes leaders act like fools.
Job 12:18  He strips kings of their authority and makes them slaves.
Job 12:19  He strips priests of their power and removes those who feel so secure in their position.
Job 12:20  He makes trusted advisors be silent. He takes away the wisdom of the older leaders.
Job 12:21  He brings disgrace to important people. He takes power away from rulers.
Job 12:22  He exposes even the darkest secrets. He sends light into places that are as dark as death.
Job 12:23  God makes nations great, and then he destroys them. He makes nations grow large, and then he scatters their people.
Job 12:24  He makes their leaders foolish. He makes them wander around in the desert.
Job 12:25  They are like someone feeling their way in the dark. They are like drunks who don't know where they are going.  (ERV)

God is all knowing and powerful. He Blessed Job and also took away his blessings, yet Job feared God and was given understanding even when his friends accused him of wrong doing. The LORD can turn things one way or another. Mankind seeks their own way, but they must learn that God is greater and understanding comes from him. We are in a time when God can turn things around for his glory making the worldly wise as fools. It is a time to test every thought by the spirit of God. Those who are not of God's spirit he may use to build or to tear down. God is over all things, but only by trusting him do we go through trials and testings. Through good times and bad he is exalted and our faith in him brings blessings. LORD shine your light in the darkness. Uncover corruption and by your spirit bring truth and respect for your holiness.

Removing the Veil

2Co 3:12  Since we have such a hope, we are very bold,
2Co 3:13  not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end.
2Co 3:14  But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away.
2Co 3:15  Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts.
2Co 3:16  But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.
2Co 3:17  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2Co 3:18  And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

The law of Moses is for hardened hearts and minds and even as the law was brought down to them by Moses they could not look upon his face. His countenance was changed having been with the Lord, so that they were afraid lest he put a veil over his face. It was the people who feared to go up into the presence of the Lord on Mount Sinai; they sent Moses who was their chosen deliverer. The law is good but it cannot save you. We must come to Jesus our Lord and deliverer, from sin and death, to be changed. A new heart, a new countenance, a new hope of glory. In Jesus the veil is removed by the Spirit of truth and we are become a free people. This new freedom comes with the New Covenant. The hope of all nations is Jesus Christ. In him is freedom and peace. Bring back the Ten Commandments as a guide to a sin hardened people. The law is to teach us that salvation comes by faith in the law giver, the creator, the Son of God. He is calling forth his people.

Sense and Sensibilities

Pro 2:1  My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
Pro 2:2  So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Pro 2:3  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
Pro 2:4  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Pro 2:5  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Pro 2:6  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

I am to hide God's word in my heart, not just look at it, but hide it as a treasure in my heart.

Psa 119:10  With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
Psa 119:11  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psa 119:12  Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
Psa 119:13  With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.

I am to cry after knowledge and understanding. My lips are to declare the judgments of thy mouth. Out of the treasure of God's word I am to speak, not my words but His word, by the Holy Spirit I am to speak.

Act 2:4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

1Co 14:15  What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

The Holy Spirit is for wisdom and understanding,  the expression of divine wisdom and knowledge, not only in words of wisdom but in the work of my hands, my ears, mouth, and even in the smelling. All the senses are made alive by His Spirit.

I was reading about the Russian composer Shostakovich who wrote astounding music with his eyes, heart, ears and hands. Those eyes who could see so deeply into music were weak and disqualified him to serve in the Russian army during WW 2. If I am not fit for war, I can serve in the Lord's army. My senses, my mind, my heart are to serve my Lord.

The things of the world's thinking are enmity with the LORD.

Jas 4:4  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

As the world turns, sounds like a radio soap opera, but in another sense, as the world turns more and more against the things of God we will need His word in our hearts, His Spirit to work in and through us. We will need to encourage one another.

Heb 10:21  And having an high priest over the house of God;
Heb 10:22  Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10:23  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Heb 10:24  And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Heb 10:25  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

LORD, use all of me for your service. May Jesus Christ be lifted up.

Too Late For Some?

Pro 1:24  Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
Pro 1:25  But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
Pro 1:26  I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
Pro 1:27  When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
Pro 1:28  Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
Pro 1:29  For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
Pro 1:30  They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
Pro 1:31  Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
Pro 1:32  For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
Pro 1:33  But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Those who have purposely turned from God to lie and cheat and to gain wealth by evil means will experience fear, desolation, destruction, distress and anguish. Because of these things they will call out to God and He will not answer them; they are reaping what they had sown. There is still hope, for Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. Was this referring only to the lost sheep, those who were ordained to be saved? If only Jesus were here, for he never turned away anyone who came to him with a repentant heart. What about Judas Iscariot? Could he have been saved? Judas did not go to Jesus to ask for mercy, instead he went to the chief priests and elders who had plotted to kill Jesus. They were hypocrites, getting in the way of salvation to those seeking mercy.

Mat 27:3  Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
Mat 27:4  Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
Mat 27:5  And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

Can those who have denied God be saved? If only Jesus were here, but wait, he is here. He dwells in those who are his disciples. He is with those who are born again of his Spirit. Jesus dwells in his believers, yes there is help for the worst sinner. Jesus is here in the hearts of his disciples. Come and receive forgiveness in the name of Jesus, come you sinners it is not too late. Jesus is calling you now.

John 1:12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
